Nokia promises Lumia 920 Pureview camera will silence Windows Phone 8 pessimistic views

BERLIN: 11.SEPT.2012

Nokia has moved to silence claims that its Lumia 920 will not be able to compete in the furnace-hot smartphone market, claiming its Pureview camera technology will entice users to the Eco-system.

Today, Nokia executive vice president Jo Harlow claimed that the Lumia 920 is the company’s best smartphone ever made by Nokia, during her keynote at Qualcomm’s IQ event in Berlin on Tuesday.

“Our Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 flagship is the most innovative smartphone in the world. The device is the perfect example of Nokia’s iconic Lumia design, combined with the incentive of Pureview camera technology,” Jo Harlow said.

“Windows Phone 8 and the Lumia 920 were built side by side. We’re working with Microsoft to expand Windows Phone.”

The Nokia Pureview technology lets users take the best pictures possible on a smartphone, Harlow claimed.

Nokia claimed the technology lets the Lumia 920 capture five to 10 times more light per shot than competing smartphones and boasts unparalleled video stabilization features.

The company was criticized after it was revealed that a video purporting to show off the 920’s Pureview camera technology had been faked.

Harlow used the Berlin event to issue a further apology for the video.

“You may have heard about a video that simulated the Pureview technology’s effect,” said Harlow.

“We’re still in the process of understanding how it happened. It was poor judgement not to put a disclaimer saying it was a simulation. But it should not distract from the point, the Lumia 920 does take the best images on any smartphone.”
